Used twin fins in Bali
A twin fin has no centre fin, so it slides where a thruster grips and carries speed where a thruster asks for pumping. Modern twins with a small trailer keeper are more controllable than the seventies originals. They are the most common shape traded between travellers in Canggu after the shortboard.

Who it suits
Improvers and up, in clean, workable waves. Roughly five per cent more volume than your shortboard.
What to check on a used one
- Two boxes rather than three means each one carries more load. Twist-test both.
- Ask whether the trailer fin box is there and whether the fin is included.
- Look at the rail line near the tail. Twins get pushed hard off the back foot.
