What SurfPoint is

SurfPoint lists used surfboards and helps you find one. That is the whole product. When you find a board you want, you contact the seller yourself and you deal with them directly.

SurfPoint takes no payment, holds no money, ships nothing, holds nothing in escrow and mediates nothing. There are no fees, for buyers or for sellers.

That matters more than it sounds. There is no order, no invoice, no protected payment and no buyer protection, because there is no transaction here to protect. Whatever you agree with the other person is between the two of you, in cash, in person, off this site.

Using SurfPoint means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, use something else. What we do with data is a separate page: privacy.

What we do not check

We do not verify sellers. Nobody's identity is checked, and a phone number is typed in by the seller rather than confirmed by a code.

We do not see the boards. We cannot confirm that a board exists, that it is the board in the photographs, or that the person selling it owns it.

Specs are what the seller confirmed. Some of them start as a suggestion from an AI reading the photos and the description, and the seller confirms or corrects each one. Anything left unconfirmed is labelled on the page. Treat every number as the seller's claim, because that is what it is.

Meeting a stranger

• Meet in daylight, somewhere public, and bring somebody if you can.
• See the board before you agree a price, and check it dry.
• Do not send a deposit to somebody you have not met. A seller who insists on one before you have seen the board is a seller to walk away from.
• Trust the feeling if something is off. There will be another board.

What a listing must be

• A real surfboard that you own, or one you are allowed to sell for somebody else.
• Photographs of that actual board, taken by you. Not the manufacturer's photo, not another listing's photo.
• Dimensions and volume you have checked, or left blank. A guess confirmed as fact is worse than an empty field, and an empty field is allowed.
• Damage described honestly. The condition wording exists to be used.
• A price you will honour, in a currency you will accept.
• One listing per board.

And what a listing must not contain:

• Anything that is not a surfboard, and any board you do not have.
• Another person's phone number, address or name. If you paste text from Facebook or WhatsApp, take their details out first. Whatever you paste is published word for word.
• Anything that is illegal to sell in Indonesia, stolen boards included.
• Abuse, harassment, or anything sexual.
• Text or links placed there to advertise something else.

Your words, your photos

Your description and your photographs stay yours. By publishing a listing you give SurfPoint permission to store them, show them, index them and use them in previews and search results for as long as the listing is up and afterwards while the page stays live. Ask us and we will take them down.

Understand what publishing means here. A listing is a public page, search engines index it, and the description is printed as you wrote it. Assume anybody can read it and find it on Google.

Everything else on the site, the design, the guides, the board model data and the software, belongs to GEWE GmbH.

Your account

You sign in with a link sent to your email address, or with Google. Whoever can read that inbox can use your account, so look after it. You are responsible for what is listed under your account.

You can delete your account at any time, from the bottom of your boards. It removes your sign-in and everything that identifies you, and it cannot be undone. Boards you already published stay online without you: one that sold keeps its page and says it sold, and one that was still listed keeps its page and says it is no longer listed. That is deliberate, because other people already have those links. Ask us if you want one of those pages taken down too.

We can remove a listing or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why where we reasonably can.

If something goes wrong

We cannot resolve a dispute between you and a seller and we will not try to arbitrate one. We hold no money, so there is nothing for us to refund, release or reverse. This is the honest consequence of being a search layer rather than a marketplace.

What we can do is remove a listing and tell you what we hold about it. If a listing is dishonest, illegal, or not the seller's board to sell, write to hello@surfpoint.io and tell us which listing.

If you have been defrauded or threatened, that is a matter for the police where it happened. We will cooperate with a lawful request.

What we promise about the service

Not much, and we would rather say so. SurfPoint is free and it is provided as it stands. We do not promise it is always available, that its index is complete, or that any figure on it is right. A young search index is incomplete by definition.

We can change features, add them or take them away. If we shut the service down we will say so on the site first, so sellers can take their listings elsewhere.

Liability

SurfPoint is not a party to your deal, so it is not answerable for it: not for the board, not for the money, not for what was said in a WhatsApp conversation, and not for a meeting you arranged.

For the service itself we are liable to the extent Swiss law makes us liable, and no further. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent, for gross negligence, or for personal injury.

Which law applies

Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is the registered seat of GEWE GmbH, in Bern, so far as the law allows that to be agreed. If you are a consumer somewhere whose rules override that, those rules stand and this sentence does not take them away.

When these terms change

We will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is material we will say so on the site. Continuing to use SurfPoint after that means the new version applies.
