What to check on a used one
- Press the deck under both feet: thin performance boards dent and delaminate there first.
- Sight down the rails for a buckle. A shortboard that has been through a reef takes a crease before it snaps.
- Check the volume is printed on the stringer. On a shortboard a two-litre error changes the whole board.
