Who it suits

Every level, and especially anyone surfing long, gentle waves. Add roughly a fifth to your shortboard volume.

What to check on a used one

• Midlengths are heavy enough to ding themselves. Check the rails along their whole length.
• Look at the fin setup: single, 2+1 and thruster midlengths ride very differently.
• Weigh it in your hands. A waterlogged midlength hides its weight better than a shortboard.
