Who it suits

Anyone who surfs small, weak waves regularly. Usually a couple of litres above your normal shortboard figure.

What to check on a used one

• Grovelers get surfed on shallow sandbars and hit the bottom. Look at the fin boxes carefully.
• The extra width means more deck to dent. Thumb-press the whole front foot area.
• Check the tail is the shape you think it is. Swallow, squash and diamond ride differently.
